AFC Wimbledon will renew acquaintances with bitter rivals MK Dons in a televised League One fixture on Thursday night.
The rivalry has become one of the fiercest in English football after MK Dons was founded in 2004 following Wimbledon Football Club's relocation to Milton Keynes.
Whilst MK Dons took their place in League One for the 2004/05 campaign, the newly-formed AFC Wimbledon had to start their journey from the bottom.
The two sides first met in the FA Cup during the 2012/13 season, before meeting in the league for the first time in December 2016.
MK Dons dominated the early battles with AFC Wimbledon as they won the first two meetings in cup competitions, along with the first ever league encounter in 2016.
AFC Wimbledon's first victory against MK Dons came in the EFL Trophy in 2014 but they only won one of their first 10 league meetings against their rivals.
The tide has turned in recent years with AFC Wimbledon unbeaten against MK Dons in the last four fixtures.
AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons last met in League Two during the 2024/25 campaign, with their meeting in January 2025 ending goalless.
The two teams now find themselves back in the third-tier together and they will each be looking to secure the early-season bragging rights.
