Adam Azim looks set for a busy 2025, beginning in early February at London's Wembley Arena.

Dalton Smith and Harlem Eubank are both in the sights of ‘The Assassin’, who is eager to prove he is the best in Britain, before moving up a level in an attempt to take on the world.

First though, Azim has to successfully navigate a potentially dangerous opponent in Sergey Lipinets, the wily veteran who has mixed with, and beaten, numerous boxing talents over the years.

But, will Azim prove to have his number?

Before we find out, it's time to tale a look at the 'Tale of the Tape'...

Adam Azim - In Profile

The McGuigan's are renowned for their astute work in guiding fighters through hugely successful fighting careers filled with big fights and world titles.

After working with the likes of Carl Frampton, Josh Taylor and Chris Billam-Smith and others, it’s entirely possible that Adam Azim could eventually prove to be the best of the lot.

Azim is keen to make up for a mixed 2024 with a memorable 2025.

Retaining his (now vacant) European title and beating Ohara Davies was not the productive 12 months Azim likely had in mind this time last year, but frustrating injuries temporarily put pay to his somewhat loftier ambitions.

Rivals Dalton Smith and Harlem Eubank are in Azim’s crosshairs which could lead to a defining period for the British 140lb division.

The clever matchmaking continues for now, however, against Sergey Lipinets - a veteran Ukrainian who has faced fighters of a higher calibre.

Azim should be made to box to orders against ‘Samurai’ because the veteran still knows how to cause problems and put opponents on the canvas. Let's not forget he is a former world champion.

His looping overhand shots could pose a problem for the taller Azim in particular, but there's no doubt that Lipinets can be taken out of his comfort zone by Azim.

The British fighter would do worse than to study what IBF world champion Jaron Ennis did to his upcoming opponent back in 2021, when he stopped him in the sixth stanza.

What he did back then was what Azim should try to emulate on Saturday 1st February. If he can do that, then it would represent a perfect start to what we all hope will be a hugely productive 2025 for one of British boxing's brightest prospects.

Sergey Lipinets - In Profile

Commentator Chris Algieri described Sergey Lipinets thrilling win over Robbie Davies Jr as a “symphony of violence”.

The 10-round points victory for the Ukrainian was crucial to his career because defeat could have signalled the end.

Nine months on from that night in Plant City, Florida, Lipinets is in the UK for the first time to take on red-hot talent Adam Azim.

This fight has Lipinets placed in the role of gatekeeper - the man who is used a yardstick as to how good the touted headline act actually is.

Gatekeeper or not, Lipinets' experience dwarves Azim’s considerably having faced fighters such as Mikey Garcia, Lamon Peterson, Jaron Ennis and Omar Figueroa Jr.

And let’s not forget Lipinets world title win in 2017 against Akihiro Kondo.

But for the Ukrainian to triumph in February, he will have to draw Azim into his fight where the chin is just as crucial as the punches.

In the early rounds we’ll discover exactly what kind of night Lipinets will have, but everything is pointing to a long one!
