Aaron Ramsdale Next Club Odds: Newcastle United 1/1 to capture Arsenal stopper this summer

Many were surprised when Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta opted to bring in Spanish stopper David Raya from Brentford 12 months ago with Aaron Ramsdale already on the Gunners' books.

Ramsdale had established himself as a firm fans' favourite in North London having largely impressed across his two years with the club following his big money arrival from Sheffield United in 2021.

However, the Arsenal boss highlighted the importance of having two bonafide number ones at his disposal to elevate competition levels; though it didn't take long to ascertain just who would be his regular starter.

Raya's arrival - a couple of years after the club's initial pursuit of the highly-regarded stopper - was always likely to provide questions as to where Ramsdale's future lay, and those questions appear to be bigger than ever given the Spaniard's significant contribution towards the Gunners' title bid this term.

Arteta appears to have found the stopper he feels he can hang his hat on, with no other keeper in the Premier League able to better Raya's 15 clean sheets this season, with Jordan Pickford his nearest challenger on 12.

Look, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Ramsdale remains a Gunner in 2024/25, with Arsenal priced up at 9/4 to retain his services beyond the 5th September.

But there will undoubtedly be a plethora of clubs, both at home and abroad, all eager to prise the Stoke-on-Trent born stopper away from the capital.

Newcastle United are 1/1 to take him to St James' Park this summer on the back of their well-publicised January interest, although it remains to be seen whether Eddie Howe opts to revive a potential move given Nick Pope's recent return from injury.

Chelsea are also expected to be in the market for a new number one with boss Mauricio Pochettino a known admirer of the England international, and the Blues are at 14/1 to take the stopper across London to Stamford Bridge.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are another side likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper in the coming months, with Ramsdale currently quoted at 16/1 to make Molineux his next port of call.
