'The Nuke' has enjoyed a fairy-tale start to life on the professional circuit, reaching the final of the 2024 World Darts Championship before reigning supreme, on debut, in the Premier League.

And, despite having never previously toed the oche at the iconic Winter Gardens venue, Littler has been installed as the 4/1 second favourite to maintain his Order of Merit charge with victory at the 2024 World Matchplay later this month.

MVG's pre-tournament price of 8/1, by contrast, is as big as it has been for years ahead of a major ranking event, despite the fact that he has captured the coveted title on three occasions - most recently in 2022.

The Dutch ace's record in Blackpool is second only to Phil Taylor, who won the title a staggering 16 times throughout his illustrious professional career, although his inflated price has been affected by drawing Littler in the round of 32.

It's world number one Humphries who currently sits at the top of the betting however, priced at 3/1, after being paired with Ricardo Pietreczko in the first round, as well as being on the opposite side of the draw to the likes of Littler, Van Gerwen and World Cup of Darts teammate Michael Smith.

'Bully Boy', who romped to World Cup glory with Humphries last month, is 16/1 to go the full distance after reaching the final for the first, and only, time five years ago, with Gerwyn Price (13/2) and Rob Cross (14/1) both priced up at shorter odds than the St Helens man.

Reigning champion Nathan Aspinall emphatically dispatched of Johnny Clayton 18-6 in last year's final, and has been installed at 25/1 to become the first player since Van Gerwen in 2016 to go back-to-back.
