Nobody has enjoyed more 2000 Guineas success than Aidan O’Brien and the legendary trainer will go in search of another victory at Newmarket on the 4th May.
O’Brien’s City Of Troy is expected to go off the favourite for Saturday’s Classic at Racing HQ, in which 11 runners are set to go to post.
The three-year-old goes into the mile contest having won all three of his previous races, including a three-and-a-half length victory in the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes in October at Newmarket.

Two of City Of Troy’s three runs to date have come at Newmarket, with successes in Group 2 and Group 1 company at the Suffolk track on his CV.
Last year’s champion juvenile will be O’Brien’s only runner in the field, as the trainer bids for a first win in the 2000 Guineas since 2019.
It has however been seven years since a favourite last won the first Classic of the season, but the experienced Ryan Moore will again be on board City of Troy.
The only other horse in the field with a Group 1 win to their name is Rosallion, for trainer Richard Hannon.
Following an impressive win in the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot last July, Rosallion was beaten in a Group 2 contest by Iberian at Doncaster in September.
But he returned to the track in October with a one-length success in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere Group 1 race at Longchamp.
On what will be his first start of 2024, Rosallion – who is currently rated 115 – is 5/1 to claim a first 2000 Guineas win for his trainer since 2014.
Last month’s impressive bet365 Craven winner Haatem is trainer Hannon’s second runner in Saturday’s contest.
The 16/1 shot has more race experience than most of his rivals, but his juvenile form suggests he will fall short of some of those at the head of the market.
Having claimed two Derby victories, Charlie Appleby enjoyed his first Guineas win in 2022 courtesy of Coroebus.
The Newmarket-based trainer has just one runner in this year’s field, but Notable Speech looks to have a good chance, particularly having had previous success over this trip.
It’s three wins from three races so far, but all three have come on the all-weather at Kempton and it will be interesting to see how the switch to turf goes for the 9/1 chance.
Clive Cox’s Ghostwriter (16/1) is another unbeaten horse in the field, including two victories at Newmarket – a maiden stakes last August and the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes in September.
