Read the latest betting pick, predictions and odds for tonight's matchup between the Winnipeg Jets (41-14-3) and Ottawa Senators (29-24-4), courtesy of our friends at Daily Faceoff.
The red-hot Winnipeg Jets will look to extend their winning streak to 11 games when they visit Ottawa on Wednesday, kicking off a grueling stretch with six of their next seven on the road. Winnipeg has thrived away from home this season, boasting an 18-9 record overall and an impressive 9-2 mark against the Eastern Conference.
Ottawa, on the other hand, will try to avoid losing its fifth game in a row after falling out of the second wild card spot.
The Senators opened their three-game homestand with a 5-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens, but they are still 16-8-2 on home ice this season. Ottawa is also 9-3 against visiting Western Conference teams.
That said, the Jets have dominated recent matchups with the Senators, winning five of the last six meetings—including three straight in Ottawa—and the home team will likely be without some key forwards.
Josh Norris could return on Wednesday after missing the last five games, but Shane Pinto is still listed as day-to-day. Captain Brady Tkachuk is also questionable after leaving Tuesday’s practice early for precautionary reasons, but he hopes to play.
This is the first half of a back-to-back for Winnipeg, so it’s unclear which game Connor Hellebuyck will start. The Jets will travel to Nashville to play the Predators on Thursday, so Eric Comrie will likely start one of the games. With Hellebuyck in goal, the Jets could either have a big edge in goal against the Senators, or they could level the playing field for Ottawa if Comrie starts.
The Senators have allowed four or more goals in four consecutive games, though, so regardless of who starts in goal for Winnipeg, this is a good chance for Jets’ forward Kyle Connor to snap his five-game scoring drought.
The 30-goal scorer hasn’t scored on his last 21 shots, but he's registered 18 of those shots in the last three games.
