The NHL has graced its fans with a five-game slate on Wednesday night, with one marquee game that will catch the attention of all NHL fans.

We will be previewing the two national TV games that feature the Philadelphia Flyers in Chicago to take on the Blackhawks, and Boston making a trip to Northern Alberta to faceoff against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Philadelphia Flyers prediction

Connor Bedard is back in the Chicago lineup after missing six weeks with a broken jaw. And thank goodness because there were not many reasons to watch the Blackhawks without their rookie sensation.

Since returning from injury, Bedard has six points in three games including a three-point night against a good Carolina team. Not to slight the rest of the Blackhawks, but Bedard is by far the best player on the team, and it looks like he's found another gear to his game. Look for the over in shots for Bedard (2.5) and to be an anytime goal scorer.

Philadelphia on the other hand has been proving a lot of fans and media wrong with the impressive season that they're having. Philly is third in the Metropolitan Division with 65 points. Pretty impressive for a team in the middle of a rebuild.

But Philly isn't playing their best hockey at the moment. They've lost their last two games and haven't been getting much scoring outside of Travis Konecny.

I think this is going to be a low scoring, tight checking affair. Just how John Tortorella likes it.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Boston Bruins prediction

Two of the best teams in the NHL clash in Edmonton on Wednesday night. Since the Oilers made their coaching change, they rank first in wins, points, and points percentage. They're also top five in all of goals for, goals against, power play and penalty kill. Oh, and on top of that, the Oliers have five players in the top-40 of NHL scoring during that span.

Boston is 10th in the NHL in points percentage since November 13th. They've cooled down a bit since getting off to one of the best starts in the NHL. They're 4-4-2 in their last ten, and have lost five of their last seven. They're in a bit of a rut heading into Edmonton, one of the hardest buildings to play in in the NHL.

The Bruins and Oilers have historically played close games against each other. They're both 5-4-1 in their last 10 matchups with Edmonton outscoring Boston 27-25.

I think this is going to be a close game that the Oilers ultimately end up winning.

Edmonton Oilers vs. Boston Bruins picks
