Detroit Red Wings @ Florida Panthers predictions

Florida enters Wednesday night’s game as heavy favourites against the Detroit Red Wings, and for good reason. The Panthers have dominated the Wings in their last 10 head-to-head matchups with a record of 10-0-0, outscoring them 42-15.

Florida is also one of the hottest teams in the NHL at the moment, thanks in large part to the performances of Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk. Since December 17th, Tkachuk has 21 points in 13 games (3rd in the NHL) and Reinhart has 17 in his last 13 games (8th in the NHL).

Detroit is back playing above .500. They are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. Dylan Larkin, Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane have led the change offensively for the Wings. But unfortunately for Detroit, Kane will not be in the lineup on Wednesday night.

This is not a good matchup for a banged up Red Wings team. The history and current play would indicate that Florida is the right pick tonight.

Montreal Canadiens @ New Jersey Devils predictions

New Jersey has been hanging around one of the two Wild Card spots in the Eastern Conference all season. They're in the first Wild Card spot if you sort the standings by points percentage.

They're 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. That's a good record considering they've been without Jack Hughes, Ondrej Palat, Timo Meier, Dougie Hamilton and Jonas Siegenthaler.

The Devils are winning games by committee right now with all their injuries. They've also received solid goaltending from Nico Daws who has a .922 save percentage over his last five games.

Montreal has struggled recently. They are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games. They've also been on the wrong end of the head-to-head series with the Devils. New Jersey is 7-2-1 in their last 10 against the Canadiens. Montreal is 3-12 straight up in their last 15 games against the Devils.

I don't like this matchup for Montreal, even with all the injuries to New Jersey's top players. I don't like the way they've played recently. And the recent history with the Devils is ugly.

Chicago Blackhawks @ Buffalo Sabres predictions

The final game on the Wednesday night slate has the Blackhawks in Buffalo to take on the Sabres.

The Blackhawks roster has been depleted by injuries, the most notable of the bunch being Connor Bedard. They're also without Nick Foligno, Taylor Hall, Tyler Johnson, Anthony Beauvillier, Andreas Athanasiou, Seth Jones, and Connor Murphy. It's kind of a miracle that they're 2-7-1 in their last 10 games when missing half their roster.

Buffalo is starting to play a little better of late. They're 5-4-1 in their last 10 games, and 4-2-0 in their last six. They're getting balanced scoring from the likes of Casey Middelstadt, Tage Thompson, Rasmus Dahlin, Jack Quinn, and Alex Tuch. They all have at least six points in their last 10 games.

Chicago was supposed to be a bad team when healthy. Now, take away half their forward lineup and two best defencemen, and they're going to be overmatched nearly every night they take the ice. Because of that, I think you have to take the Sabres on the money and puck lines tonight.
