Western Sydney Wanderers boss Mark Rudan could not hide his disappointment as his side squandered a number of great chances before losing 1-0 to the Newcastle Jets.
The Wanderers are priced at 5/2 to make the top six of the A-League and play finals football this season but they need to start picking up wins and quickly.
More missed chances
The Wanderers completely dominated in the first 45 minutes when firing in 12 shots compared to Newcastle's three but could not find the back of the net.
Ramy Najjarine and Adama Traore were the biggest culprits when squandering excellent opportunities and they were made to pay on the hour-mark when Angus Thurgate grabbed the winner for the Jets.

Western Sydney battled on as they attempted to find an equaliser but the damage was done and Rudan says they only have themselves to blame after missing so many chances.

"Really disappointing, we should have been at least a couple up at halftime," said Rudan. "I thought they were fantastic in the first half but if you don't take your chances you apply pressure to yourself.
"I thought we started brightly in the second half but we gave away probably their best chance and then we concede. We kept going for it but disappointed about the result, really disappointed."
The Wanderers will have a chance to bounce back when they take on Wellington Phoenix on Sunday and wins are needed asap to keep their top six hopes alive.
