Esports: VALORANT VCT Americas Tuesday matches preview

VCT Americas will light up the VALORANT world with a couple of matches on Tuesday that have plenty of important teams in action.

Leviatan and FURIA will square-off while NRG Esports has a date with Evil Geniuses. All four teams are still in the running to try and reach the VALORANT Masters and Champions.

The top three spots get an automatic berth, while the fourth through 10th-place will go to the Last Chance Qualifier.

All four teams in action on Tuesday find themselves in the thick of the top three battle and a win here all but secures a top four placing

Heading into this all-important head-to-head match-up both Leviatan and FURIA Esports have had a strong showing in VCT Americas thus far, as both teams find themselves inside the top six in the overall standings.

Both teams sit at 4-5, and a win by either will put them into the conversation for at least a fourth-place finish.

Neither one of these teams looks destined to climb to the top three for an automatic bid to the Masters and Champions events, but to be one of the higher-seeded teams in the LCQ would be a big goal for either team.

Leviatan hasn't had as good a showing as they had during the 2022 campaign when they reached VALORANT Champions 2022 and ended up with a 7th-8th place finish.

They were eliminated in that event by Fun Plus Phoenix. Looking at FURIA Esports they will try to knock off Leviatan in the first round of the Playoffs.

FURIA was able to finish the regular season in the fifth-place spot. They didn't have a very good 2022, with a 13th-16th place finish at the VALORANT Champions 2022, with their early exit at the hands of fnatic.

FURIA has lost its last three matches coming into the playoffs, so the edge for this clash clearly favors Levitan on the money line at -175.

NRG Clear favorite to cover

The other first round playoff match at VCT Americas features a couple of teams looking to really break through.

Evil Geniuses come into the playoffs as the sixth and final seed and they will take on a NRG team that finished third in the regular season and went 6-3 overall.

For a team that didn't partake in last year's VALORANT championship, NRG has really made an impact this season as they have clearly made some major moves.

That speaks volumes after they spent most of 2022 in the B-tier level of VALORANT play. It has been a disappointing campaign for Evil Geniuses as they haven't been much of a contender this season.

Their most recent match was a loss to this same NRG they are facing off against in the playoffs.

If EG isn't ready they could find themselves with yet another early exit in VCT Americas. The EG roster has been a bit of a mess, with nine different players currently a part of the active squad and the team hasn't really built any chemistry.

That should be a big factor in the outcome of this first round match-up. EG won't go down easy, but NRG is clearly the favorite to not only cover a -1.5 point spread at +100 but win the match outright.
