The Toronto Raptors are set for a rebuilding year in the 2024/25 NBA season, and they enter the campaign with the joint-longest NBA Championship odds.
Just one player remains from the Raptors' 2018/19 title-winning team, and that is center Chris Boucher. The team is now made up of potentially solid young players complementing the core trio of Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, and Immanuel Quickley.
Other veterans on the roster include Kelly Olynyk, Jakob Poeltl, Garrett Temple and Bruce Brown, who will all be counted on for big roles. Otherwise, the team needs to see improvement from its young players.
Luckily, Barnes made a leap last season and made his first All-Star appearance. He averaged 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks, all of which were career highs.
Toronto's 2023 first-round draft pick Gradey Dick got better throughout 2023/24 and ended up with a three-point percentage of 36.5 percent for the season. Former lottery picks Davion Mitchell and Ochai Agbaji are also on the roster and will want to use this season to validate their draft positions after slow starts to their pro careers.
Rookies Ja'Kobe Walker and Jamal Shead have potential and could adjust to the NBA quickly based on their play in college, but unless someone on this team comes out of nowhere and emerges as a superstar, this season projects to be a long one up north.
