Trainer Kent Rattray says he is feeling upbeat over the chances of his charge Sunny Sanz who will compete in the Group 1 Easter Cup heats on Sunday.
The six-year-old, who has won 11 out of 21 starts, has had his problems on the injury front but Rattray says he is ready to go.
Sunny Sanz was on course for the Easter Cup two years ago before injury struck and he is hoping to make amends with his latest attempt.
“It was two years ago I was getting him ready for the Easter Cup, he broke his pedal bone. I was holding off racing him then to get the front after he won a few country cups,” Rattray said.

Sunny Sanz last raced on 19th March when finishing fourth in the Group 1 Tasmania Cup in Hobart. Gotta Good Reason was the winner that day. Sunny Sanz was 6.3m behind the winner and Rattray was satisfied.
He now says Sunny Sanz is in good shape and should improve in this latest assignment.
“I was pleased enough that he got through the two runs in six days. At the top of the straight (in the final), he looked the winner but didn’t finish off,” Rattray added.
“I have done some blood tests and had a look at him, and think I can improve a few things. If we can improve him, he shouldn’t be too far away.
“I’m not over confident, but I am upbeat about him.”
