Newcastle Jets have secured the future of coach Arthur Papas who has penned a new contract to take him through until the end of the 2023/24 A-League campaign.
The Jets may have missed out on finals this season but progress has certainly been made since the arrival of Papas.

Newcastle finished second bottom last season before Papas came in and completely revamped the Jets squad. Some quality
additions have been brought in and Newcastle are up to ninth with three games remaining.
Papas has also introduced an exciting, attacking brand of football and he is looking forward to taking the club higher.

“It is clear we have made progress over the past 10 months from our initial starting point and yet are well aware that there remains much room for growth,” he told the club’s website. “I’ve been clear since day one that I believe the Newcastle Jets have the potential to be one of the biggest clubs in the country and will keep working hard to achieve that.
“This contract extension hopefully provides the certainty required as we move forward together.”

Meanwhile, Executive Chairman Shane Mattiske also revealed the club’s delight at the deal.
“Looking forward, we have real confidence that with Arthur confirmed as our coach for the next two seasons, we are building a team that can compete with the very best and bring real success and pride to this Club and this community,” he added.
