Nick Taylor: Golfer Profile

Victory in the Canadian Open in June made Nick Taylor a national hero as there had not been a home winner of the event since 1954.

A third-round 63 propelled Taylor into the thick of things, then he battled hard on a challenging Sunday to get himself into a play-off against Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood.

Taylor and Fleetwood could not be separated through three sudden-death holes, but on the fourth something truly magical happened. Taylor holed an eagle putt from 72 feet, making history and sending the assembled masses into raptures.

The post-putt celebrations will live long in the memory of everyone in attendance, including Taylor's friend, Adam Hadwin, who got wrestled to the ground amid the outpouring of joy.

Taylor has won three times on the PGA Tour, with long gaps in between each success.

What is Nick Taylor's Presidents Cup record?

Unlike his compatriots Corey Conners, Adam Hadwin and Taylor Pendrith, Taylor is yet to get a taste of Presidents Cup combat.

Given the nerve he showed when winning the Canadian Open, it seems likely he will be on the mind of the next Internationals captain, especially as it will be a Canadian.

Mike Weir will be the Internationals chief and the Presidents Cup will be staged at Royal Montreal. Perhaps Conners, Hadwin, Pendrith and Taylor will all be on the side.

When is Nick Taylor playing next?

Taylor seems likely to take a break after the conclusion of the Tour Championship.

The Fortinet Championship in the middle of September will be a PGA Tour option should he be keen to get straight back into action.
