Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Philadelphia Flyers: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The highlight of Thursday night's 12-game NHL slate could be the Maple Leafs visiting the Flyers, with both teams looking to lock in playoff spots in the coming weeks.

The Maple Leafs (37-19-8) currently sit third in the Atlantic Division and comfortably in the playoff picture, while the Flyers (34-24-8) are third in the Metropolitan just four points ahead of the last Wild Card spot.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Philadelphia Flyers betting picks and predictions

Maple Leafs Money Line -125

Despite a few bouts of inconsistency this season, the Maple Leafs have been on a roll lately. Toronto has won 11 out of their last 14 games and 5 out of their last 6 games on the road. They have also won the last 7 straight played against the Flyers.

The Flyers have not completely downward spiraled, but they have not strung together consecutive wins in over a month.

They just can’t seem to catch fire. They have traded wins and losses for 8 games now and are 5-5-2 in their last 12. Again, that is not brutal, but will not get the job done come playoff time. Between these two teams, the Maple Leafs are the more reliable play right now.

Sean Couturier Over 0.5 points +120

This looks like it has the makings of a high scoring game. Something about this matchup bodes well for overs as the over has hit in 5 out of the last 6 played head to head. Most recently, this year’s sole head to head matchup ended with a total of 7 goals.

If this game does end up being on the higher scoring side, getting +120 for Philadelphia’s top line center to log a point is solid value.

Sean Couturier thrives in competitive games like this and is one of the more important players on the team. He will get plenty of ice time as he is on the top line and second power play. He consistently skates with producers on the team and may be forced to take some chances offensively.

Auston Matthews Anytime Goalscorer -125

There is a reason Auston Matthews is the most likely by odds to score in this game. He leads the NHL with 54 goals which is 8 goals clear of the next best scorers.

Matthews has also done damage against the Flyers specifically in a small sample size. In their 4-3 win over the Flyers last month, Matthews netted a hat trick.

Toronto scores the 5th most goals per game in the NHL. While Matthews is a primary contributor, he is second on the team in points with plenty of teammates producing points at a similar pace.

Matthews hits the ice with those fellow star players every shift which only improves his chances to score. When looking at offensive production in this game, Auston Matthews is a good place to start.
