The Offensive Player of the Year award remains a wide-open race eight weeks into the season with the outstanding Jalen Hurts among the favorites.

Hurts, a candidate for the NFL's regular season MVP too, could strengthen his case during the Philadelphia Eagles' upcoming run of three winnable games that could take them to 10-0. However, last year's winner Cooper Kupp has seen his stock fall after suffering an ankle injury in a loss that has left many wondering if the Los Angeles Rams can even make the playoffs again. 

Jalen Hurts (+300)

Hurts has done everything asked of him by the Eagles, the NFL's lone remaining undefeated team. The third-year quarterback has taken care of the football and executed well while leading long offensive drives that have rarely stalled in the red zone. Using his legs to scramble when necessary, he is accounting for such a high proportion of Philadelphia's offense - 16 of the team's 25 touchdowns and 2,102 of their 2,768 total yards from scrimmage - that it's hard to imagine how he could have any rival for the league MVP award. 

Josh Allen is probably his biggest rival for that honor and the Offensive Player of the Year award could come Hurts' way by way of consolation - but the voting has been dominated by non-quarterbacks in recent years. In a passing clinic on Sunday, Hurts threw a career-high four passing touchdowns with zero interceptions, completing 19 of 28 passes. And with Philly's next three opponents being the struggling Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Commanders, the 24-year-old could buff up his record even more in the next few weeks. 

Tyreek Hill (+700) 

The offseason acquisition from the Kansas City Chiefs is the outstanding contender to play the wide receiver position so far this season. There have been nine 160-yard receiving games in the NFL this season and Hill has four of them, including three of the top five single-game receiving yardage performances with 190 yards at Baltimore, 188 yards against Detroit and 177 versus Minnesota. 

Through eight weeks, the Miami Dolphins speedster leads the NFL in receptions (69) and receiving yards (961), while he also has the most combined yards with 982, 14 more than New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley. 

Lamar Jackson (+800) 

Another QB with a legitimate shot at this award is the 2019 regular season MVP Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens star was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September after jumping out into the lead in quarterback rating (119.0) and passing touchdowns (10) that month. 

Things have cooled off a little since then with his QB rating dropping to 83.4 over the past four weeks, but he remains among the NFL's top rushing threats with 553 yards on the ground that put him on track for another 1,000-yard plus campaign. 

Nick Chubb (+1100) 

The three-time Pro Bowler entered Week 8 ranked first in rushing yardage, yards after contact, missed tackles forced, explosive runs and rushing touchdowns, per PFF. Chubb leads the NFL with 841 rushing yards through the first eight weeks of the season - over 50 more than Barkley - and is well on course to beat his previous career-high (1,494). 

The 26-year-old moved into a tie for second in Browns history with his 27th 100-yard rushing game of his career on Monday when he ran for 101 yards on 23 carries and scored two touchdowns in a crucial win over the Cincinnati Bengals. 

Cooper Kupp (+1200) 

Kupp was voted Offensive Player of the Year after his monster 2021 campaign when he became the fourth player to lead the NFL in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947) and receiving touchdowns (16) in the same season. But the Rams' offense has stalled in 2022 and, while he has the second-most receptions in the NFL to date, his numbers are way behind Hill's as things stand. 

Josh Allen (+1200) 

Allen has already won two AFC Offensive Player of the Week awards but had one of his least effective games of the year on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The Buffalo Bills star threw two picks and completed just 13 of his 25 passes — potentially hurting his chances of scooping up this award or the regular season MVP prize - which has gone to a quarterback for the past nine seasons. 

Christian McCaffrey (+2500) 

Still a long shot, but if his midseason switch from the Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers continues to work out then he could be back in the mix for it for the first time since 2019. The all-purpose back would probably need to up his production as he is currently on course to only just break 1,000 yards rushing for the season. 

But in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams, he became just the fourth player since 1970 to record a rushing touchdown, a receiving TD and a passing score in the same game.
