The Toronto Blue Jays host the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, Aug. 27, as the Jays attempt to work their way into a Wild Card spot.
Yusei Kikuchi is set to take the mound against Noah Syndergaard in a matchup between two teams each riding a two-game losing streak heading into the weekend’s action.
The Jays are 2-2 against the Guardians this season. They faced off in a four-game series in Cleveland earlier this month.

Kikuchi has helped the Blue Jays win in four of his last five starts, and they came against impressive competition in the Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, and twice against the Baltimore Orioles.
His one loss in that timeframe came against the Guardians when the Jays’ batters provided no run support in a 1-0 loss on Aug. 8.
Kikuchi is 9-4 on the season with 138 strikeouts in 133.0 innings pitched.
In the past two weeks, the Blue Jays have scored 10 runs or more on two occasions, and they’ve been shut out twice.
Toronto has solid offense between Bo Bichette, who is fourth in MLB in hits, Matt Chapman, who’s third in the league in doubles, and the powerful bats of Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and George Springer.
Guerrero has seven hits in his last five games with just one strikeout in that time frame.
