Canadian Mike Malott is one of UFC's up-and-coming fighters, currently competing in the Welterweight division.
The 32-year-old is a bit of a late bloomer but is making fast progress.
Malott currently holds an MMA record of 10-2-1 and he is 3-1 in the UFC.
Malott began his professional MMA career way back in 2011 with a promotion called Extreme Cage Combat.
In his first ever fight, he beat James Saunders by first-round submission. This trend continued as Malott won his next three fights by first-round finish across various promotions.
It was not until October of 2014 that Malott lost for the first time, a KO/TKO loss to Hakeem Dawodu at the World Series of Fighting. His fight following this loss was a draw against Ousmane Thomas Diagne in September of 2015 at Bellator 142.
After a two-year layoff, Malott returned with two more first round wins, one in 2017 and after another three-year break, one in 2020.
It was then that he caught the eye of Dana White and the next time he fought was in 2021 at a Dana White’s Contender Series event. Malott defeated Shimon Smotritzly by first-round submission and earned his UFC contract.
Malott made his UFC debut in 2022, a fight against Mickey Gall at UFC 273. Another first round win by submission was the result and with this result, Malott started to be put on the map for his finishing ability.
His next two UFC fights came in February of 2023 against Yohan Lainesse and in June of 2023 against Adam Fugitt. Unsurprisingly, Malott won both of these by submission.
Up to this point in his career, Malott has won six times by submission and four times by KO/TKO and will be looking to prove his status in the Welterweight division next year.
Malott's next fight is yet to be determined.
Malott last fought at UFC 297, where he lost to American Neil Magny via KO/TKO in the third round.
Malott was born on November 7th, 1991 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. He is currently 32 years old.
Malott is currently listed at 6-foot-1 inches tall and weighs in at 170 pounds.
He has a reach of 73 inches and has competed in the UFC Welterweight division since joining the promotion.
Malott currently has a net worth of approximately $1 million.
