Esports: Karis learning about mid laner role

League of Legends' Kim "Karis" Hong-jo insists he is learning a lot about the role of mid laner whilst playing for Hanwha Life Esports in the LCK, which is known for being home to some of the best in that position.

In their next match in the LCK Spring, Hanwha Life Esports are 11/2 to beat T1, who can be backed at 1/10.

Hanwha earn key victory

Mid laner "Karis" was speaking about his personal experience in his role after the close of week three, which introduced patch 12.2, in the LCK Spring Split 2022.

Hanwha finished the week's play with a key 2-0 win over Liiv SANDBOX, bringing to an end a losing streak which had seen them lose to DWG KIA, Gen.G Esports, KT Rolster and Fredit BRION.

They have now moved up to seventh out of ten teams in the LCK Split ahead of a challenging week four which begins with a match against pacesetters T1, who have a 6-0 record in the division so far.

And while "Karis" believes the team have shown great spirit to fight back after their losing run, he also confirmed the LCK is teaching him a lot about playing in the position of a mid laner.

Regarding the team's slump in form, "Karis" told Inven Global: "Rather than sulking about it, we felt that if we put in a bit more work, we can improve."

Karis learning new role

And as for playing in a division renowned for its mid-laners, he added: "As a rookie, I feel I'm very open minded in experimenting with champions - one thing I learned competing against the LCK mid lakers is that the level of detail in their laning is vastly different.

"I'm learning a lot of things I didn't know about matchups, as well as the details that people may overlook."
