Esports: IEM Dallas takes shape

MOUZ and Entropiq became the final teams to qualify for the $250,000 tournament that kicks off later this month.

BIG fall short

BIG will be a notable absentee from IEM Dallas after failing to qualify from the Europe Closed Qualifier, despite having a pair of chances to do so.

The German roster defeated Apeks and MOUZ to make it to the Upper final, but their first opportunity slipped away after a three-map slog went in favour of Entropiq.

Both teams won their respective map picks on Ancient and Mirage, but having posted a respectable five rounds on the attacking side of Nuke, the deciding map, BIG failed to build any momentum when the sides switched.

Entropiq closed out Nuke 16-9, booking their ticket to Dallas in the process, with BIG dropping to the Consolidation final to renew rivalry with MOUZ, a team they defeated 2-1 earlier in the tournament.

MOUZ take opportunity

They were unable to reproduce that form, however, and squandered their second chance, allowing MOUZ to sneak into the main event.

The first map, MOUZ's pick of Ancient, went the way of the hosts 16-9, with masterful performances by both David "frozen" Cernansky and Adam "torzsi" Torzsas securing the series lead.

Vertigo continued the dominant theme by MOUZ, at least initially, with a 10-5 lead at the half looking to be enough to send them to Dallas. BIG staged a comeback, however, forcing overtime, but that ultimately wasn't enough, as MOUZ saw off their resurgence 19-17.

With that, MOUZ and Entropiq join FaZe, Natus Vincere, Cloud9, ENCE, Heroic, G2, NIP, FURIA, Astralis, Vitality, Liquid, Complexity, Imperial and Looking For Org in the main event, that kicks off on 30th May and ends on 5th June. You can follow the action via our Sports Live Streaming platform.
