Warriors playmaker Chanel Harris-Tavita has dropped a bombshell by revealing he will take a break from playing rugby league when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Warriors are priced at 9/1 to finish in the top eight of the NRL this season, but whatever happens it will be Harris-Tavita’s last campaign before embarking on a hiatus.
Stopped enjoying the game
It remains to be seen how long the 23-year-old will be away from the game for. Indeed he may never return. And the news will come as a huge shock to many.
However the playmaker says he is not enjoying playing rugby league like he should be doing. With that in mind he believes it is only fair that he steps away and takes a break.

"I want to take a break from rugby league," he told AAP. "I've made the decision in the last couple of weeks. Over the last year I haven't been enjoying it as much as I want to, even though being an NRL player was something I dreamed of as a kid."
Contract delay
Harris-Tavita says he has been putting off a decision over a new contract. The Warriors put an offer on the table but he was delaying matters as he knew his heart wasn’t in it. Now the decision is made and the news is out he feels a lot better.
"A couple of weeks ago my manager was coming to Brisbane to negotiate my contract and I said to myself: 'am I going to grow some balls and make this decision now or am I just going to keep everyone else happy?',” he added.
"Before that I was practically lying to everyone about what I wanted to do."
