2024 Masters Odds: How will Canadian quartet fare at Augusta National?

The 88th edition of the Masters takes place this week and there are four players representing Canada at Augusta National in the first Major of 2024.

Those four individuals will be trying to stop tournament favorite Scottie Scheffler from winning here for the second time, having claimed the spoils in 2022.

The world number one has won twice on the PGA Tour this season and is +375 to triumph again, ahead of Rory McIlroy and defending champion Jon Rahm, who are both priced at +1000.

McIlroy is aiming for his first Green Jacket that would also see him complete the Grand Slam, while Rahm is aiming to become the first back-to-back Masters winner since Tiger Woods in 2002.

Ahead of Thursday's opening round, we have taken a look at the Canadian quartet that will be teeing up and whether there is any chance a second player from the Great White North can end up on top.

Nick Taylor

The highest ranked Canadian player in the field at 24, Nick Taylor will be making just his second Masters appearance since finishing T29 on debut back in 2020.

Since turning out at Augusta for the first time, the 35-year-old has won two more PGA Tour titles to take his overall tally to four, winning the 2023 RBC Canadian Open and the 2024 Phoenix Open.

Taylor hasn't featured since ending up T64 at the Valspar Championship and his best finish in the 'big four' events was that Georgia display four years ago, with five straight missed cuts in the Majors since.

His game appears to be in strong shape over the last 12 months, though, and he could be a lively each-way contender with sizable outright odds of +15000.

Adam Hadwin

Ranked 46th in the world, Adam Hadwin's sole PGA Tour success came at the 2017 Valspar Championship and he has been a regular on the US circuit for several years now.

The 36-year-old has had three previous Masters efforts, finishing T36 on debut in 2017 before going T24 a year later and then missing the cut in 2020.

Hadwin has hit some form in recent weeks with top-five results at the Genesis Invitational and Valspar Championship, but his best chances of providing a profitable return could be in the top-20 finish market at +180.

Corey Conners

While Corey Conners is the third-lowest ranked Canadian player in the field at 49th, he arguably has the best chance of clinching the Green Jacket and may be worth an each-way look at +6600.

The 32-year-old has been steady yet unspectacular in the build-up to the Masters, going T18 at the Arnold Palmer, T13 at The Players Championship and T25 at last week's Texas Open.

A two-time PGA Tour winner, Conners' best Major results have come at Augusta National and he recorded three top-10s in a row from 2020 to 2022.

Breaking his Major duck could be too taxing for him this week, but there is lots to like about this consistent operator and the +500 on a top-10 finish makes strong appeal.

Mike Weir

Rounding off the quartet is the only Canadian player to have won the Masters, Mike Weir, who had the Green Jacket slipped onto his shoulders back in 2003 when beating Len Mattiace in a playoff.

At 53 years of age, Weir now plays his golf on the PGA Tour Champions with his last triumph coming at the 2021 Insperity Invitational.

The Canadian will forever have his name etched into golfing history, but the former world number three has missed the cut at the Masters in 11 of his last 14 appearances and his days of challenging at the top of the leaderboard at this level are well gone.
