Perth Glory interim coach Ruben Zadkovich says it is “unfair and ridiculous” that his side have to play their third game in six days against a well-rested Western United side.
Western are priced at 4/1 to win the A-League grand final and have not played since they were hammered 4-1 by Wellington Phoenix last week.
Unfair advantage
Glory’s depleted squad on the other hand are having to travel around Australia and were last in action on Wednesday when they slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Phoenix.
Zadkovich says it is unfair and the heavy work load and travel schedule is the reason they have such a big injury list.

“The disappointing thing for me is an extremely unfair and extremely ridiculous scenario that we’re playing three games in six days and travelling round Australia,” Zadkovich said.
“Western United, they get a nice cushy week lead-in which gives them a massive advantage It’s a very unfair situation for my players to have to play a team that’s had a week lead in-when we’ve had three games in that same amount of time.”
Western fired up
Just to make matters even worse for Glory, Western boss John Aloisi says his side are fired up and determined to bounce back after the shock defeat to Wellington.
“It’s probably the most intense I’ve seen them train all season,” Aloisi said. “Excited about the game now because when you train like that you normally perform at that level.
“Their pride took a hit, that’s the biggest thing. The players felt it and the response has been good.”
