Forward Kevin Fiala scored a goal and an assist to help Minnesota to a 3-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, before declaring the Wild are contenders for the Stanley Cup.
Minnesota, 13/1 to lift the championship this season, extended their home point streak to 12 games with victory (11-0-1) their 29-11-2 record ranks second in the Central Division.
Fiala enjoying fine season
Against the Hurricanes who are 15/2 to win the Stanley Cup, 25-year-old Fiala improved his season total to 36 points (14 goals, 22 assists) in 43 games.
Fiala was acquired from the Nashville Predators during the 2018/19 season and since has amassed 137 points (60 goals, 77 assists) in 176 regular season games for the Wild.
In his last 14 games, the winger has 18 points (10 goals, eight assists).

Carolina (32-11-3), meanwhile, lead the Metropolitan Division and their points per-game average of .728 ranks third in the NHL. The Wild's .709 points per-game average sits just behind in fourth.
Fiala said to the media following the win over Carolina: "They're a good team, but so are we…we expect to win every night. Doesn't really matter who we play, and tonight was just a good challenge for us.
"We were just there. "If they're contenders, so are we. That's what we feel like."
