One of the more popular offseason events in the League of Legends Pro League has not disappointed, and with only a couple of matches left it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

There is less than a month until the regional leagues in LOL get going to start the 2023 season. This event gives fans a chance to see the best of China's LPL League along with some developmental teams in action.

After beginning the event with 16 teams the field has quickly dwindled down to three teams with one team already qualified for the Grand Final. After getting through the opening stages of the event, the 13 teams from the LPL joined in the fun.

The top four teams from China's LPL coming into this event were JD Gaming, Top Esports, EDward Gaming and Royal Never Give Up.

BiliBili Gaming pulled a major upset in the semi-finals as they knocked off Royal Never Give Up punching their ticket to the Grand Final. They await the winner of EDWard Gaming and ThunderTalk Gaming as those teams meet in a semi-final match.

EDward Gaming has opportunity to win it all

The stage is set for EDward Gaming and TT Gaming to face-off in a head-to-head match. Both teams were able to advance into the semi-finals of the Demacia Cup. EDG did so by beating Huja MOJ in the quarterfinals in four maps.

They now face a TT Gaming team who will try to knock-off its second-straight opponent from the top four in the LPL. They were able to beat JDG in three maps without much pressure.

EDward Gaming can't ask for a better situation as they don't have to play their other top competitors in the final days of this event. Their most recent major results at the end of the 2022 season were a first-place finish at the LPL 2022 Regional Finals. They then finished in the 5-8 range at the LOL World Championships. They lost in five maps against DRX.

EDG finds itself in a better position at this year's Demacia Cup after finishing 5-8 in this event in 2021. Their run in that event ended against Invictus Gaming.

ThunderTalk Gaming has come a long way in the past year, as they finished 12th at the PLP 2022 Summer, which was their highest finish to date in a Major tournament. They have much to be proud of. They have already bested their previous two finishes in the Demacia Cup.

In 2020 and 2021 TT Gaming didn't even get past the opening rounds of the event. They finished in 17-20 positions the last two seasons.

This time around the story is very different as they have reached the Semi-finals and a guaranteed top four finish in the 2022 Demacia Cup. That could help boost the organization to a big 2023 Campaign especially if they can knock-off another top five team from the LPL.

HOYA has been the leading player for the team, and he has made a big difference since taking on the Top role. That included a 5-8 placing at NEST 2022. That result also saw them face this same EDG team.

EDward Gaming was able to get a 2-1 victory in that match. Both teams come into this match with plenty of confidence, but only one team will emerge with the win and advance to the Grand Final. Whichever team does they will have a legitimate chance of emerging as the overall winner of the Demacia Cup 2022.

This isn't an easy outright choice but backing EDG to cover a +1.5 spread at +140 is the right idea.

BLG's path to the Grand Final wasn't an easy feat

The other side of the bracket had a major shocker as BLG was able to send the overall remaining favourite RNG packing. That's right, they not only beat Royal Never Give Up, but they also didn't even allow the team to score a map victory.

BLG's path wasn't a given as they only got into the tournament because Top Esports withdrew from the event, which meant Bilibili Gaming was selected to take their spot in Stage 3.

BLG then went on to eliminate Invictus Gaming 3-0 and RNG 3-0, in the quarterfinals and Semi-finals. Now they sit and wait to see who they meet in the Grand Final. Their path to the Final was by far no easy feat, but they are here, and will have a great shot to win the Demacia Cup.
