With a Lancashire derby in the Championship and some jostling for play-off spots in League 1, there's plenty to look forward to in the EFL midweek encounters.
There are three games in the third tier on Tuesday evening and one clash in the Championship to look forward to with bragging rights and crucial points at stake at the DW Stadium.
What | Wigan Athletic v Blackburn Rovers, The Championship |
Where | DW Stadium, Wigan |
When | 19:45, Tuesday 12th October 2022 |
How to watch | Sky Sports Main Event |
Odds | Wigan 15/8, Draw 21/10, Blackburn 8/5 |
After missing out on promotion last term, Blackburn Rovers have made a positive start to the 2022/23 campaign as they push for a return to the Premier League.
A win over Lancashire rivals Wigan Athletic on Tuesday night would see Blackburn fly up from seventh to join the likes of Sheffield United, Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers at the top of the table on 24 points.
Despite having a chance to join the frontrunners on Tuesday, Rovers have been extremely inconsistent in recent weeks.
From a 2-1 win over West Brom in mid-August, Blackburn have had the trend of winning then losing then winning in their following 12 games in all competitions.
The trend would suggest Rovers are set for a defeat after winning 3-0 in their last outing at home to Rotherham United at the weekend.
However, Rovers at 8/5 will fancy their chances of making it back-to-back wins against a Wigan side who have lost three of their last four Championship games.
What | Charlton Athletic v Exeter City, League One |
Where | The Valley, London |
When | 19:45, Tuesday 11th October 2022 |
Odds | Charlton 13/10, Draw 12/5, Exeter 21/10 |
Charlton Athletic find themselves struggling at the wrong end of the League 1 table as they prepare to welcome Exeter City to The Valley.
The Addicks have gone through their last seven games without a win in all competitions and their last league victory was against Plymouth Argyle back on 16th August.
Exeter, meanwhile, are up in eighth place in the standings after a three-match unbeaten run in the league.
With seven goals in League 1 already this season, Jevani Brown is enjoying a stellar campaign and is 21/10 to score anytime at The Valley.
What | Milton Keynes Dons v Bristol Rovers, League One |
Where | Stadium MK, Milton Keynes |
When | 19:45, Tuesday 11th October 2022 |
Odds | Milton Keynes Dons 5/4, Draw 12/5, Bristol Rovers 11/5 |
Milton Keynes Dons and Bristol Rovers find themselves battling to get away from the relegation zone as they prepare to meet on Tuesday night.
The Dons and Rovers have both managed just three wins respectively this season and only two points separate the two teams in the standings.
Rovers might have turned a corner after going the last three games in all competitions unbeaten and look to be good value at 11/5 to beat a Dons side hampered by inconsistency.
Tuesday has one other game taking place in League 1, as Peterborough United host Forest Green Rovers at London Road.
The Posh find themselves firmly in the play-off picture this season as they sit in seventh place in the standings.
A win over 21st-place Forest Green at 9/20 would see Peterborough leapfrog Bolton Wanderers, Barnsley and Portsmouth into fourth spot.

What | Bristol City v Preston North End, The Championship |
Where | Ashton Gate, Bristol |
When | 19:45, Wednesday 12th October 2022 |
Odds | Bristol City 29/20, Draw 11/5, Preston 2/1 |
In Wednesday's only game from the EFL, Preston North End make the trip to the West Country to face out-of-form Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
Back-to-back wins over West Brom and Norwich will have boosted confidence in the Lilywhites ranks ahead of the trip to the South-West.
The struggling Robins on the other hand have gone on a five-game winless streak in the Championship and pressure is starting to mount on manager Nigel Pearson.
Preston are the form team in this one under boss Ryan Lowe and 2/1 for three points on the road catches the eye, as the Lancashire outfit look to climb into the play-off places ahead of the weekend's action.
