Adelaide United have confirmed the signing of English forward Zac Clough who has penned a deal until the end of the 2021/22 A-League campaign.
Adelaide are priced at 5/6 to finish in the top six of the A-League this season and now have the extra firepower of Clough to help take them there.
Clough sees himself as a creative goalscorer after coming through the ranks with Bolton Wanderers before going on to play for the likes of Nottingham Forest and most recently Carlisle United.
At 26 years of age Clough still has his best days ahead of him and is looking forward to the challenge of testing himself in Australia for the rest of the campaign.
Veart left to rue missed chances
"I'm really excited about the opportunity to play in Australia," Clough said after the deal was announced.
"I've heard great things about the A-League and I'm really looking forward to meeting my new teammates and getting to work.
"I'm a creative midfielder that loves to get forward and score goals and provide assists which will hopefully help contribute to team success."
Reds boss Carl Veart sees Clough as the ideal replacement for Stefan Mauk who is leaving the club to embark on a fresh challenge in Japan.
Veart has also lost Ben Halloran, while Kusini Yengi is out injured so some extra fire power was definitely the order of the day.
"Zach has great pedigree, playing at a strong level in England, and his signature gives us another attacking option," Veart added.
