CFL Week 15 review: Toronto continue on their merry way

Week 15 in the CFL is now complete and the latest round of fixtures certainly didn't disappoint, with high-scoring games mixed in with three one-score finishes.

How exactly did these results impact each team with just six weeks left? We will do a full review of Week 15 to find out.

Top performers

There were plenty of fantastic performances across the four matches in Week 15 and the action started with an East Division battle between the Toronto Argonauts and the Montreal Alouettes.

This was the closest game of the week, in a 23-20 win for the Argos. The game went down to the wire, with a last-second field goal block by Toronto to claim the win and take their win-loss record to 11-1.

Brandon Barlow and Wynton McManis were both standout players on defense for the Argonauts, with both ending the game with two sacks each.

In Friday night’s second game, the Edmonton Elks and Saskatchewan Roughriders took the field for some West Division action.

The Elks earned their fourth win of the season, putting up a whopping 16 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to come from 27-20 behind to win 36-27.

Running back Kevin Brown grabbed the headlines for Edmonton, running 19 times for 175 yards and a touchdown.

It was an impressive win for Edmonton, but their playoff hopes remain dim as they are last in the West Division with a 4-10 record.

Then came the Saturday CFL action, starting with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers taking on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in some intra-division play.

Hamilton took a commanding 29-16 lead into the fourth quarter, and a comeback attempt by Winnipeg was unsuccessful as the Tiger-Cats held on to win 29-23.

What a big win by Hamilton, who now sports a 6-7 record after taking down the now 10-4 Blue Bombers. It is their second straight win, and it was earned against one of the best teams in the CFL.

Wide receiver Terry Godwin was a shining light for the Tiger-Cats, as he had four receptions for 61 yards and one touchdown.

Finally, the Ottawa Redblacks and BC Lions took the stage in some more intra-division play. In a game where Ottawa had to travel across Canada.

They held in strong with a very tough Lions team, but BC defended their home field in a 41-37 win.

This was the highest scoring game of the week, and it looked like the Redblacks could cause an upset as they were up 37-18 heading into the fourth quarter.

However, an outstanding 23-point fourth quarter for the Lions sealed the deal.

Ottawa quarterback Dustin Crum lead the way with three rushing touchdowns, while BC receiver Justin Mcinnis had eight receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
