CFL Week 14 review: Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers on a Grey Cup collision course

Week 14 of the Canadian Football League (CFL) is in the books and with that, we are now two-thirds of the way through the regular season. 

Here, we take a look at each of the Week 14 games including results, top performers, a playoff picture update, and future odds.

Week 14 Results

Friday, September 8th

  • Hamilton Tiger-Cats: 27 vs. Ottawa Redblacks: 24

Saturday, September 9th

  • Montreal Alouettes: 10 vs. Toronto Argonauts: 39
  • Saskatchewan Roughriders: 6 vs. Winnipeg Blue Bombers: 51
  • Calagary Stampeders: 23 vs. Edmonton Elks: 25

Top performers

There were plenty of great performances from players around the league in Week 14. 

Starting with top quarterback performances, we have Zach Collaros of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He was by far the best quarterback of Week 14, throwing for 319 yards on 18 of 21 passing with five touchdowns and no interceptions.

 Another standout quarterback performance was Taylor Powell from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He threw for 326 yards on 21 of 32 passing and had three touchdowns.

As for running back, there were four standout performances. The first was Kevin Brown from the Edmonton Elks, who rushed for 143 yards and one touchdown on 15 attempts. 

The second was A.J. Ouellette, who had 109 yards rushing on 19 carries, and two touchdowns for the Toronto Argonauts. 

Brady Oliveira from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, rushed for 154 yards on 18 attempts. Lastly, Devonte Williams from the Ottawa Redblacks ran for 146 yards and 17 carries.

There were also a couple of standouts for wide receivers in Week 14. The best of these performances came from Tim White. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ top target had 180 yards receiving and two touchdowns from seven catches. 

The next wide receiver who stood out was Dalton Schoen from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He had 104 receiving yards on four receptions and three touchdowns. Also from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers was Kenny Lawler, who had 104 receiving yards on four catches and one touchdown.

Defensively, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers had the best game as a team. They allowed six points (two field goals) to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and allowed a total of 223 total yards.

Review

The Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Blue Bombers continue to dominate the league. 

Anything other than these two teams meeting in the Grey Cup in a few months would be surprising as they are clearly the two best teams in the CFL and have been for the entire.
