Toronto Argonauts vs. Winnipeg Bluebombers: Picks, Predictions and Odds

The 2024 CFL Grey Cup matchup is set, and it will be contested by the Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Bluebombers.

The season began on June 6th, which seems like just yesterday, and now it is time to close out the season with what should be a phenomenal game.

The 2024 Grey Cup brings us a matchup and two teams who fans are familiar with. The Toronto Argonauts and Winnipeg Bluebombers have been dominating this league for years, and there has been just one Grey Cup that hasn’t featured one of these two since 2017.

They also faced off in the 2022 Grey Cup, where Toronto won by one point.

Winnipeg will be playing with an extreme desire for vengeance after Toronto got the better of them just two years ago. Making their fifth straight Grey Cup appearance, they will look to right the ship having lost the last two.

Toronto’s backs will be up against the wall, as their starting quarterback Chad Kelly broke his ankle in the East Finals, and will miss this game. However, Toronto is still a very strong team, and are in this game for many other reasons.

It will be interesting to see who will take this one home, and we are here with our Argonauts vs. Bluebombers picks and predictions to help set the stage.

Toronto Argonauts vs. Winnipeg Bluebombers betting picks and predictions

Winnipeg Bluebombers -9.5 (-110)

These Bluebombers, led by CFL great Zach Collaros, are on a mission. They will be fully motivated after losing the final the last two years.

Winnipeg weren’t their usual selves at the beginning of the year, but they are in much better shape now. They ended the season winning nine of their final 10 games, and showed pure dominance in the West Division Final, winning 38-22.

A key factor in this game will be quarterback, as Toronto is forced to play their backup Nick Arbuckle. Their opponent meanwhile has one of the best players in CFL history in Collaros, and he is absolutely slinging it for his team.

This Winnipeg team is almost a carbon copy of last season’s powerhouse, but this time around, they make their talent count. Expect Winnipeg to put their foot on the gas, and not take it off, winning by a large margin.

Under 49.5 points (-110)

The Argonauts have scored a whopping 88 points in their two playoff games, but that seems to be a very inflated number.

In the East Semifinal, now-injured quarterback Chad Kelly was outstanding, throwing for four touchdowns and rushing for one. However, he will miss the Grey Cup with an ankle injury. In the East Final, the offense contributed only one touchdown in the game, but managed 30 points.

The Bluebombers will not be giving up points that easy in this one, as they have a sound and secure defense, and are now playing against a backup quarterback. Expect Toronto to struggle to put up points.

Winnipeg’s offense has also been great, dropping 38 points in the West Final. These Bluebombers did not rely on scoring this season (they are seventh of the nine CFL teams in points scored), so expect them to stick to the game plan that has served them well all season.

Plus, Toronto is a very strong defense in their own right and Winnipeg may struggle to run up the score in this one.
