Where is the Canadian Grand Prix?

The Canadian Grand Prix takes place at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Quebec.

Mosport Park in Ontario hosted the first seven races, while Mont-Tremblant in Quebec was able to host two races in 1968 and 1970.

After 1971, the Grand Prix was moved permanently to Mosport, although seven years later, safety fears forced organizers to switch the race to its current home at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

The circuit is known for its grueling layout, while it has now hosted the fifth most Formula 1 races.

How many Canadian Grands Prix have been run?

Fifty-eight races have taken place since the first race was held in 1961.

Who is the most successful driver in the Canadian Grand Prix?

German Michael Schumacher and Briton Lewis Hamilton have both won the race on seven occasions.

Schumacher won the first of his titles in 1994, before going on to win further races in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2004.

Hamilton's first success came in 2007, and the former McLaren driver won further titles in 2010, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Brazil's Nelson Piquet is the third-most successful driver at the Canadian Grand Prix, winning three races in total.

Who won the last Canadian Grand Prix?

Red Bull's Max Verstappen handed his team their 100th win at the recent Canadian Grand Prix.

The reigning world champion secured another lights-to-flag victory in Montreal in what was his sixth victory of the 2023 campaign. His success in Canada was his 41st overall, helping him draw level with Ayrton Senna in fifth place in the all-time F1 standings.

While Verstappen's success was the big news story of the week, Canadian Lance Stroll was able to collect some points in front of his adoring fans.

After starting 15th on the grid, Stroll managed to climb his way up to ninth.

Which team has the best record at the Canadian Grand Prix?

Ferrari's 14 victories at the Canadian Grand Prix has yet to be beaten, even though they have not won the race since 2018.

Schumacher's seven race wins certainly helped their cause, and the Italian outfit have won one more race than McLaren, who have recorded 13 victories in Canada.

The two teams have dominated the race over the years, with Williams the only other outfit to win more than five events at the Canadian Grand Prix.

How long does Circuit Gilles Villeneuve have the contract for the Canadian Grand Prix?

The semi-street circuit in Montreal will remain on the calendar until 2031. Back in March 2017, a multi-year contract was agreed upon until 2029, before a further two-year extension was later agreed.

How can I watch the Canadian Grand Prix?

TSN will provide all the coverage of the race, including the practice sessions and qualifying.

How many spectators are expected to attend on race day?

While the British Grand Prix and Monaco Grand Prix may get more headlines, the Canadian Grand Prix remains one of the most popular on the F1 circuit.

Formula 1 bosses confirmed a weekend attendance of 345,000 for the 2023 race, which is the largest official attendance in Montreal's F1 history.

This year's figures mean an extra 7,000 people attended the 2023 race compared to the one 12 months earlier, suggesting there is plenty of enthusiasm for the sport in Canada.
