NFL: Bengals coach hoping for Uzomah boost

Cincinnati Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah still hasn't practiced since suffering a left knee injury in the AFC Championship win over Kansas City, but head coach Zac Taylor hasn't given up on him recovering in time for the Super Bowl.

The Bengals, who are 17/10 on the Money Line for Super Bowl LVI, spent their second day inside the practice bubble at the University of Cincinnati on Friday as they prepare for next Sunday's clash with the 1/2 Los Angeles Rams at their state-of-the-art SoFi Stadium. Uzomah, who had five regular season touchdowns, missed his second straight day and was listed as questionable on the Bengals' injury report alongside offensive lineman Jackson Carman, who sat out with back tightness, wide receiver Stanley Morgan Jr (hamstring), defensive tackle Josh Tupou (knee) and defensive end Cam Sample (groin).

Uzomah to take it easy

"I don't anticipate him doing much work this week," Taylor told reporters. "The goal really is to see where he's at this weekend and see where he's going to be on Monday."

The Bengals coach said Friday's practice was designed to run like a normal second day of practice during the week, which routinely takes place on Thursday.

"We kept our normal rhythm, so today was a review of normal downs and we just kept working toward getting the whole game plan in," Taylor added.
