Jets trade for Sean Monahan

The Winnipeg Jets have established themselves as one of the Western Conference's premier teams, and they boosted their status by trading for Sean Monahan on February 2. Monahan has 35 points in 49 games with the Montreal Canadiens this season.

Winnipeg sent a 2024 first-round draft pick and a conditional 2027 third-round pick to Montreal in return for Monahan. Monahan is 29 years old and has scored more than 30 goals in a season three times. 

Monahan has 13 goals so far this season, including three game-winners. Monahan had been a second-line centre for the Canadiens and was part of their first power play unit while averaging 18:27 of ice time per game.

Canucks acquire Elias Lindholm from Calgary

Elias Lindholm, a 29-year-old center on an expiring contract who had been designated as the Calgary Flames All-Star representative, has been traded from Calgary to the Vancouver Canucks. Lindholm will provide a boost to the 'Nucks, who have the most points in the NHL.

So far this season, Lindholm has nine goals and 23 assists in 49 games. In return, the Flames acquired Andrei Kuzmenko, Hunter Brzustewicz, Joni Jurmo, a 2024 first-round draft pick, and a 2024 conditional fourth-round draft pick.

Kuzmenko, a 27-year-old forward, has 47 goals and 48 assists in 124 career games. Brzustewicz and Jurmo are both prospects who have not made their NHL debuts yet.

Flyers trade Gauthier to Ducks

The Philadelphia Flyers surprised the entire hockey landscape when they traded top prospect Cutter Gauthier to the Anaheim Ducks for defenceman Jamie Drysdale and a second-round pick in the 2025 draft.

Reports emerged after the trade that Gauthier, who is the third-leading scorer for Boston College's men's hockey team this season, did not want to play for the Flyers. Gauthier was also the joint-top points scorer at the 2024 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship, which he helped the United States win.

After playing in just eight games last season due to injury, the 21-year-old Drysdale has slotted in as a first-line defenceman in Philly, also playing on the top power play unit.

Kraken get Tatar from Avs

The Seattle Kraken acquired veteran forward Tomas Tatar from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft.

Tatar has scored more than 20 goals in seven of his 13 NHL seasons, most recently doing so for the New Jersey Devils last campaign.

St. Louis Blues trade Bortuzzo to Islanders

The New York Islanders got an experienced defenceman with a Stanley Cup on his resume when the team sent a 2024 seventh-round pick to the St. Louis Blues for Robert Bortuzzo. Bortuzzo has played 13 seasons in the NHL and has five seasons with over 100 hits.

Eric Robinson dealt from Columbus to Buffalo

Eric Robinson, a winger who began his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets, was traded to the Buffalo Sabres after seven years in Ohio. Robinson had 27 points split between 10 goals and 17 assists in his most productive season, 2021/22.

Canucks get Zadorov from Flames

The Vancouver Canucks acquired veteran defenceman Nikita Zadorov from the Calgary Flames to add a bit of depth. Zadorov, now 28 years old, began his career with the Buffalo Sabres before stints with the Colorado Avalanche, Chicago Blackhawks, and Flames. The Canucks gave up a 2026 third-round pick and a 2024 fifth-round pick.

Blackhawks acquire Beauvillier from Canucks

The rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks got some experience when trading for Anthony Beauvillier. The 'Hawks gave up a 2024 fifth-round pick for a player that slotted into the team's top-nine forward spots before sustaining an upper-body injury that landed him on injured reserve after 15 games with his new team.

Islanders, Devils swap Durandeau for Thompson

The New York Islanders acquired forward Tyce Thompson from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for 25-year-old forward Arnaud Durandeau. Neither player has seen NHL action, and they each still have rookie eligibility. Thompson, 24, is the brother of Buffalo Sabres star Tage Thompson.

Bogosian traded from Tampa to Minnesota

Veteran defenceman Zach Bogosian was traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Minnesota Wild. Bogosian, 33 years old, was drafted in 2008 and he has seven seasons with over 100 hits and three seasons with over 100 blocks under his belt.

Sharks acquire Addison for Raska

The San Jose Sharks acquired 23-year-old defenceman Calen Addison from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for 22-year-old forward Adam Raska. Addison has been a second-line defenceman for San Jose since the trade, while Raska has seen action in five games this season.
