RJ Barrett scored a team-high 17 points and Trae Bell-Haynes added 15 points and eight assists as Canada set a men's national team record for points in a 128-73 victory over Lebanon in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

Combined with Latvia's shocking 88-86 win over France, the Canadians have already qualified for the second round out of Group H.

Multiple records set in Canada's victory

Unlike their opening game versus France, which was a three-point affair at halftime, Canada dominated their contest with Lebanon from start to finish. 

They led by 16 after the first quarter and by 36 at halftime. Nine Canadians scored in double figures, paced by Barrett's 17. 

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 12 points, five rebounds and five assists in just 17 minutes of play. Melvin Ejim had 13 points for Canada, followed by Kelly Olynky, Zach Edey and Nickeil Alexander-Walker with 12 points each and Kyle Anderson and Dillon Brooks with 10 points apiece. 

In the lopsided win, Canada set a men's national team record with 128 points, and, per the FIBA Basketball World Cup website, it also set a World Cup record with 44 assists, which helped lead to 71 per-cent (50-for-70) shooting as a team. 

Canada's outlook in Group H and beyond

With Sunday's two results in Group H, Canada and Latvia have already clinched berths in the second round. 

France, which won the Bronze medal at the last two World Cups, can finish no higher than 17th. Canada and Latvia face off Tuesday at 9:30 AM ET on ESPN+. The winner of that game wins Group H.

Canada's odds for winning the group have increased following their big win. They are now -2500, while Latvia has +1100 odds to win Group H. At -400, Canada is the closest it's been to pre-tournament favorite USA in terms of odds to win the World Cup. The team was listed at -800 before the second match results in Group H.  

The big individual change is Gilgeous-Alexander is no longer the odds-on favorite to win the World Cup scoring title. 

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Dončić, who scored 37 points in Slovenia's 100-85 victory over Venezuela in its Group F opener, is now the favorite, at +100. Gilgeous-Alexander has fallen to +500.
